It has been awhile since I've posted any eating adventures....
So last week, while I was waiting yet another day for my test results (which btw turned out to be A+++++), John and I went to the Manhattan Deli for some comfort food which for me is either 4-for-a-$1 Kraft mac and cheese or chicken soup!
Believe it or not, I had never been to the Manhattan Deli but John had been there 3 or 4 times. I ordered the chicken-with-large-matzo-ball soup followed by cabbage rolls for my entree. John ended up with the very Irish corn beef and cabbage. On a scale of 1-10 the dinner was probably a 6. Special note: the portions are huge so we both ended up with lunch for the next day.
I didn't take any photos during dinner because I was too busy ruminating about why my results weren't back yet...but something struck me on the way out and I had to start photo documenting!
I couldn't believe what I saw! Keep Mr. Hammy away from Ms. Hebrew National - for gads sake they are touching!!!!-LOL!
These pickles are very sad. they belong in a barrel bathing in pickle juices!
Love Knish...Newman's made great ones but they don't have them any longer. I will have to try these next time. Hopefully they'll get a bit gressier when they're warmed up!
Vegetable sausage ...pronounced "kishkey" by my Bubie:) An acquired taste.
And I miss homemade blint-zies (vs blint-zah's) and smoke fish and lox and onion bagels for brunch at my Bubie and Zadie's home in Lincolnwood .... delicious memories.
The next evening, when we were celebrating the results, we enjoyed a $23.95 filet and lobster special at Restarant Orozko at John Ascuaga's Nugget. Can't say enough great things about that meal!I'm not sure which was better...the filet, the lobster or the polenta!
Try something new today!
Michele
